Sigiriya, the "lion rock" stands majestically, overlooking the luscious green jungle surroundings. For centuries, the Sigiriya rock fortress has been guarding a historical secret. King Kassapa who erected a magnificent palace atop this 500 ft. monolith became obsessed with guilt as he walked in dread of retribution for 18 long hours, until he took his own life at the foot of his rock fortress. The engineering ingenuity and artistic prowess displayed add to its mysticism and character.Nuwara Eliya is 6180 ft. above sea level nestling in the cool, misty hill country flourishing in fern and fauna, its lush green tea hills give it a distinctive mark of its own.
