Sri Lanka - the island
known to many as Paradise. With a rich cultural heritage that dates
back over 2500 years and a variety of colourful festivals, and a land
of lush greenery, sparkling gems and golden beaches. A land of blue
skies and sunny smiles. Sri Lanka's spectacular scenic beauty does not
end at its shoreline. Beneath its sea lies a fascinating submarine wonderland
of gorgeously coloured coral, jewel-hued tropical fish and submerged
ship-wrecks, which offer exciting and memorable experiences and photographic
opportunities. A small island separated from the Indian peninsula by
a narrow strait, Sri Lanka is abundantly endowed with underwater attractions
which almost surrounds its coast. Its tropical location between 5o
and 9o north of the equator in the Indian Ocean, surrounds
it with perennial warm water. |

With
its picture-postcard beauty, and rich history, Kandy has been
an indispensable part of any visitors' itinerary down the ages. A hill
capital of Sri Lanka in ancient times, the Kanyan kingdom fostered a
remarkable rich culture and tasteful lifestyle. Kandy has a claim to
veneration, far in excess of its claim to fame because it is here that
the Temple of Tooth sits in regal demeanour. The temple is the custodian
of the sacred tooth relic of Gautama, the Buddha. Complimenting the
city's natural beauty is the Royal Botanic Garden. Across the garden is
the picturesque campus of the University of Sri Lanka, where the
tree-lined roads provide a pleasurable ride any time of the day.

Sigiriya, the "lion rock" stands majestically, overlooking the
luscious green jungle surroundings. For centuries, the Sigiriya rock
fortress has been guarding a historical secret. King Kassapa who
erected a magnificent palace atop this 500 ft. monolith became obsessed
with guilt as he walked in dread of retribution for 18 long hours, until
he took his own life at the foot of his rock fortress. The engineering
ingenuity and artistic prowess displayed add to its mysticism and
character.Nuwara
Eliya is 6180 ft. above sea level nestling in the cool, misty hill
country flourishing in fern and fauna, its lush green tea hills give it
a distinctive mark of its own.

Artistic as mother nature, would be, little
brooks wind and move over hill and dale, huge gushing water falls thrash
down gaunt grey rocks like silver rain frothing and lathering as it hits the
flowing water. Breath-taking botanical gardens where unimaginable plants
grow complimenting each other's good looks. For the fun loving, there's
ample attraction in Golf, Horse Riding, Boating, Trout Fishing and others. |
