Himachal Pradesh
- The Apple Land of India, the abode of Gods, the land of snows, is
a veritable paradise, a tourist's dream and delight. It is situated
in the North-West corner of India, right in the lap of the Himalayan
ranges. It is one of the most beautiful states of the country where
landscaping knows no bounds. Its geographical diversity ranges from
green meadows and pastures to the stark grandeur of the Himalayas. The
state is dotted with holiday resorts all over. The celebrated Kullu
and Kangra valleys, and the Manali hill station, have their unique charm
and personality and are more gracious and exciting than the Kashmir
valley. |
|
|
Kullu valley,
127 miles from Shimla - the capital of Himachal Pradesh is famous for
its beautiful scenery, apple orchards, and lively tribal music and dances.
It's worth making a special trip to the Kullu Valley to see the most
exuberant of all Kullu's festivals. Himachal Pradesh, because of its
varying latitudes, offers a wide variety of flora and fauna. In fact
of the naturalist, Himachal Pradesh is a virtual paradise. The regions
of Marrhi near Rohtang, Sisu in Lahaul and Dhundi near Manali are very
rich with alpine flowers from June to mid September. |
 |
|
|
 |
Likewise, while
the Outer Himalayas are replete with oaks, deodars and rhododendrons,
the Inner Himalayas are vegetated with silver fir, maple, horse chestnuts, texus and betulas. The fauna of the state is typical, like Himalayan
black bear, goral, barking deer, leopard and amongst birds, monal, trangopan,
chirp pheasants, koklas, kalij, pleasant and red jungle fowl. Horticulture
and Agriculture are mainstay of the state's economy. Thus in this state
an ethereal other-worldly beauty is literally at your door steps. Easily
accessible, Himachal Pradesh gives you an opportunity of a life time.
Something to live by and something to live for. The 'apple land' of
India is a mountaineer's delight too. |
|
|
The places of
interest include the Chail Sanctuary for birds and wildlife, Dalhousie
hill station famous for handicrafts and picnic spots. The for trout
fishing and wild flower hall to experience floral beauty. One can visit
Kullu to witness the orchards, temples, scenery, trekking. Near Kullu
at Baijnath there are Buddhist Pilgrim centres and monastery. Shimla
- the capital is the year round holiday centre with hill resort, meadows
and forest which are excellent hiking and trekking spots. Bharmour,
66 kms away from the capital is the ancient capital with temples and
snow covered mountains. It is also called the 'Switzerland of India'. |
